These scrolls were often placed in the sarcophagus of the deceased and now provide an intriguing glimpse into Egyptian culture. The exquisitely illustrated edition features images from the Papyrus of Ani, an ancient Egyptian scroll that tells the story of Theban scribe Ani's journey through the underworld. The accompanying hieroglyphic text has been translated by renowned Egyptologist E.A Wallis Budge and includes spells directed towards ferryman, gods, and kings to assist Ani on his journey to the afterlife.
